The University Hospital of Tübingen is a leading center of German university medicine. Every year, around 75,000 inpatients and around 380,000 outpatients are treated. With over 11,000 employees, it is the largest employer in the region. The quality of patient care is certified with the KTQ seal of approval.

The new limits2vision research training network will educate the next generation of European vision researchers. PhD student positions will be hosted in the Institute for Ophthalmic Research (IOR) at the University of Tübingen (Germany) and the Institut de la Vision (IDV) / Sorbonne Université in Paris (France). This network is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of the International Training Group iRTG 3130 and the Université franco-allemande. The successful applicants will be part of a large, multi-disciplinary team located in Tübingen and Paris, with PhD research projects in neuroscience and ophthalmology, covering a wide range of interrelated topics that focus on the interplay between genetics, metabolism, and information processing. Specifically, the projects in the limits2vision programme aim to systematically unravel the mechanisms that allow the retina to successfully reconcile high energy demands with information processing capacity.
