Bioinformatician (f/m/d)

in full-time or part-time and fixed-term for 2 years.

The Department of Peptide-based Immunotherapy, led by Prof. Dr. Juliane Walz at the University and University Hospital Tübingen, focuses on cutting-edge peptide-based immunotherapies to treat cancer and infectious diseases. The team works on multi-omics tools to identify tumor-associated and viral antigens and translate these findings into clinical trials, particularly for vaccine development. We are seeking a highly skilled Bioinformatician to join our bioinformatics group and contribute to developing in-house and publicly available pipelines. Your work will center on mass spectrometry-based immunopeptidomics and the characterization of tumor-associated antigens in both hematological and non-hematological cancers.

Your Tasks:

  • Contribute to the discovery of tumor-specific antigens for peptide vaccinations and T-cell immunotherapy
  • Enhance and optimize openly accessible data processing pipelines to support mass-spectrometry immunopeptidomics
  • Develop novel data analysis workflows and visualization tools for MS-derived immunopeptidomics from in-house datasets
  • Integrate proteomics and NGS data into multi-omics analyses

Your profile:

  • MSc or PhD in Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, or a related Life Science field
  • Hands-on experience with Python and R programming
  • Familiarity with Nextflow and nf-core pipelines is a strong plus
  • Expertise in high-performance computing (HPC), cloud computing and workflow systems is desirable
  • In-depth knowledge of statistics and multivariate data analysis is beneficial
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English
  • A collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
